Read a lot of James Connolly, years back, brilliant advocate of marxism.
Lenin on the Irish question is quite short, the main thing I remember is him calling 1916 premature. In the military sense he was right but it sort of helped define the bravery inbuilt in the Fenian tradition. Declaring the Proclamation of Independence while the Brits were still Shelling the GPO. To say the least.

Padraic Pearse read aloud the proclamation BEFORE the forces of the crown actually came.

Thanks for the recommendation, added to my summer reading list.
I really enjoyed "how the Irish saved civilization". The mythical/historical link was very interesting.

Irish Republican, I ll have to check my source for that he is away on holiday, I would rather believe you to tell you the truth, I think the point about bravery goes anyway, even if it has been exagerated in this instance.
As to an online copy. I cant find one.
Here is a quote.
In defending the Easter Uprising in Ireland, Lenin made this penetrating observation:
“A blow delivered against the power of the English imperialist bourgeoisie by a rebellion in Ireland is a hundred times more significant politically than a blow of equal force delivered in Asia or in Africa” (ibid).

I dont think Lenin was particularly familiar with Connolly
but was sharply aware of the events. Lenin was more familiar with John Maclean the Scottish marxist and friend of Connolly, both opposed the first world war.
However England's difficulty was Irelands opportunity.
Here is the best summary of Maclean's views on Ireland.
