This could be the beginning of the end for the BNP - British NAZI Party. I certainly hope so!

Heavy! That's made my week! Seriously though, this may sound strange, but I hope this does not lead to the BNP being banned. It may sound counter-productive to let these bastards carry on, but banning them will just lead to them gaining popularity.

BTW, does anyone know which one of his eyes is the glass one? Shall we just poke them both out to make sure? :P

Apparently he plans to stand against David Blunkett at the next election. I haven't looked into his potential seat in detail but what do you think are the possible outcomes. Is the BNP just going to split the Tory vote or does anybody think that they will provide an alternative to a disgraced Blunkett and a lackluster Tory party. (Although i imagine that the Tory would put a lot into that seat come next election.)

Is David Blunkett now an MP without portfolio or isn he going to remain a front bencher?

I think also, what you have to consider is if the state is given lisence to ban political parties on the far right, what will stop them from banning parties/organisations on the far left. It's a dangerous pretext.

His seat is in Sheffield, which is traditionally a strong labour city, that, and with the rise of anti-fascism in Sheffield I doubt that it will be possible. But you never know?

Too true. The borgeoise is always looking for new methods to take away civil liberties in a 'popular' way. They've done it with the war on terror, which they have only half gotten away with, ASBO's, and now they are moving on to fascism.
We all know what they are doing to civil liberties with the war on terror, we were all told how ASBO's would be used agianst extreme animal rights protesters, but they have been used to break up trade union pickets. Anything done against the far right is bound to have implications for us on the far left, and therefore for everyone. We should oppose any erosion of civil liberties.

I should think he'll become a back bencher, or he may have to remain on the front bench so that he has room for his dog.

I shouldn't laugh at that, I think he has just resigned from cabinet so he will be on the back benches. I don't know if he has resigned his post as MP though?

He's definitely staying as an MP. Analysts are saying that he will be working towards cabinet re-instatment after the next election. Crucially, Blair has said that Blunkett has left with 'his integrety intact' and the Mail (the paper that basically got him out) has said that he shouldn't have gone from the home office. There will be little opposition (apart from Jack Straw! :P ) to him getting a post as another minister.
