This test is biased and is not the best indicator of your political alignment - if you do it enough times you can select answers so that you get something like -10, -10, which is whta i got last time i did it.
The Garbage Disposal Unit
12th December 2004, 14:53
Aye, but selecting your answers to get a particular score is silly. I answered truthfully, according to how I feel the world ought to operate, and what I personally believe . . . not for the sake of getting MAD LIBERTARIAN-LEFT POINTS!
It just so happens that there was only one statement I wasn't in complete agreence with or opposition to - the one relating to pornography.
RedAnarchist
12th December 2004, 14:54
when i answered truthfully, i would be iun that area, but my results were closer to -7, -7 than -10, -10.
Non-Sectarian Bastard!
12th December 2004, 15:31
Why would you do something like that, to aim for a certain score? :S
I usually get something around -9 -9
CaptinAnarchy124
12th December 2004, 16:33
The test is biased towards some affiliations, namely Anarchism. But I think it is still a good tool to see where people generally lie, it helps me start political conversations, and I use it to show people that they're more Syndicalist/Anarchist than they'd believe.

When faced with the options in a simple point-for-point questionaire, humanity is anarchist-biased. It's only when things are obfuscated with political language and lies are piled upon lies that people begin to reject freedom and equality.

The test is very anti-authoritarian and pro-liberal/anarchist.
It's obvious against human nature to be hierarchyless. All of the greatest human societies have been created under mass bureaucracies and/or hierarchies.

>>It's obvious against human nature to be hierarchyless. All of the greatest human societies have been created under mass bureaucracies and/or hierarchies.
Oh please. What examples? Rome? Rome fell and under its rule, 100,000 were killed by the tyrannical government.
Russia failed and Lenins and Stalin's crimes were aweful, any rational human being would tell you that.
It is in fact Anti-Authoritarian areas that have created the best equality and freedom, essential to human development.
Also, don't confuse Liberal with Anarchist, they are very different things.

If by "rational human being" you mean a wall street businessman then yes, you are right. But Lenin and Stalin's government's were the greatest humanity has ever seen i my opinion, proving that the state, if controlled by the masses, can benefit humanity.
By the way, what inventions and innovations have happened in lawless societies? Compare the achievements of organized societies with unorganized ones as seen in remote parts of Africa.
Non-Sectarian Bastard!
13th December 2004, 21:18
Weird, even Trotsky (or whatever hierachial god you worship) believed that eventually people would self-govern.
And who said anything about comparing us to traditional human societies, we are talking about a completly different outlook. Not a society based on warfare, class oppression, greed. I wouldn't give a fuck about the achievements of Emperial Britian, would you?

(first post..)
Well, looks like my compass only goes leftier as time goes by. :D
I remember taking this test 4 or 5 months ago, and these were the results:
Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.26
see graph:
http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalc...X=-4.75&Y=-6.26 (http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass/questionnaire.pl?page=printable_graph&X=-4.75&Y=-6.26)
And I just took it again, and moved further into the left:
Economic Left/Right: -6.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.87
see graph:
http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalc...X=-6.00&Y=-6.87 (http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass/questionnaire.pl?page=printable_graph&X=-6.00&Y=-6.87)
So on economic views, I moved 1.25 to the left..
and on the social side, moved on 0.61 to the left
I can't call myself a socialist, communist or marxist yet since I'm still 16 years old, but I'll keep reading... and informing myself, specially if I get money this christmas it'll mostly go into books.
So I'm also looking for someone who is very well-informed about socialism and/or communism and marxism who doesn't mind answering a few questions. :)
....other than that, I'm glad to be posting on this forum, it's a great resource and I've found many things of intrest.

This looks at how authoritarian/libertarian you are. If you answer the question 'yes' it will determine that you are more authoritarian than if you said 'no'.

I agree.
That you view one enemy as less dangerous than another and treat them as such does not make you authoritarian, it makes you rational.

I think that the "enemy of my enemy" option is concerned with accepting that the rule is generally true, as opposed to accepting it only in certain situations.

Yeah this thing is way to bais toward the anarchists and Stalinists. There is no medium, if you are left wing, but not a stalinist you are an anarchist if are left wing and more centralist you are a stalinist.

I got something like:
Left/Right: -9.7
Anarchist/Authorian: - 8.4
All left/righ scales and tests sucks. This is bether then most, but still faaaar from sufficient. You really dont need any test except if you are a total political noob.
Its rather messes stuff up then helps.
