i´m very interested in che guevara and i thought about his life and his acting a few times...!
please don´t understand me wrong, but i think che just got famous cause he failed in his idea of expanding the revolution to congo and bolivia....!
you must imagine, what would be, if che would have been able to win the revolution in both states...first he would be celebrated, but after some time he would have fell into oblivion.
but because he failed the "normal" people saw, that there are some people, like him, who are ready to give their life for free poor ones.
in the 70´s students took him as a example for fighting against the corrupt government and laws. and now a days the economy took over his picture and story to sell his face on stupid shirts and for ex. on handy covers--->people only buy products with him on it and what to show others - "he, i´m cool- che is on my t-shirt - i don´t no his second name and his history, but that doesn´t matter...!" i think thats the wrong way to make che live forever...!

we should take him as a pattern and fight against the completly wrong going politic today...!

his idea of fighting for the thing you want, lives on and a lot of people were able to reach the things they wanted, cause they brief on guevara - so he will live forever in our thoughts.

Your right. He got famous simply for losing. His looks most likely have something to do with it as well.

Hopefully his losses later in life won't foreshadow his greatest victory, liberating a country from opressors. That the revolutionary government is still alive and well today is a testament to Che's greatness. Nobody can take that away from him.

I agree with you to some extent.

It is true that If Che would have lived to see his revolution come true he would not be known as the legend he is known as today. But that could be true for many men, honestly. Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morisson, both great men of their times but are so famous today because they died.

There are some people such as Fidel Castro who fought along sided Che but are not as legendary, and for what fact that may be I have little concept of it. Lets give an example: Bob Dylan, great man and songwriter, but honestly if the man would have died a long time ago he would be so much more celebrated.

Then there are the revolutinaries like Zapata and Villa, both betrayed and murdered. Che, Villa, and Zapata serve that dream of romantazism that help to eulogize their lives. The fact that they died triying to make the world a better place and never got to see their dream come true makes them all the more popular because they serve that category of romantasism that died many years ago.

Its like that one quote by that one guy "Its better to go out with an explotion than to extinguish"
