A group of Israeli soldiers serving in the Gaza Strip have reportedly admitted killing a 15-year-old Palestinian in Khan Yunus for sport.

According to the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronoth, the incident took place in March when a group of newly graduated soldiers were on a hike near the town of Khan Yunus.

According to the report, an undisclosed number of Givati brigade soldiers shot and killed Khalid Sulaiman Mahdi while he was working with his father on their farm.

The boy's father, Sulaiman Mahdi, told the paper the killing was "just for the sake of it".

"Seven bullets pierced my son's head, so you can't talk here about a mistake or random gunfire. This was an act of direct and clear sharp shooting," he said.

"The area is wide open and contains nothing special. The only thing unusual was the shooting at us, which killed my son."

If it is true, then it is a despicable act.

You've got your logic all in a twist: Had the Nazi's not come to power, there would probably never have been sufficient justification on the part of the western world to put Israel where it is. Whilst the calls for a Jewish state were there long before the second world war, it was "sympathy" from the remnants of the british empire post-war that resulted in the creation of that illegitimate state in Palestine.

Without the Third Reich and it's effects on Europe and the US at the time, there would be no Israel. In effect, you are totally wrong.

I disagree, as there is no inclination of anti-semitism in their post. If anything, it was a stupid - not a "bad" - thing to say.

I thnk he meant that the Nazis are succeeded by the zionists. The Nazis "were doing good job" as in being example to the zionists

I hope those sadistic shitheads(IDF) suffer for what they've done

Banning him is counterproductive. I don't believe he's an anti-semite; his remarks were just an emotional reaction to the article. If you want to change his opinion you should counter it with arguments. Suppressing such feelings will only stimulate them.

The remark itself wasn't anti-semitic either. He didn't say they were doing a good job killing Jews, but killing 'zionist pigs'.

I wonder how many zionists were killed, though. They were Jews moving out of the Reich by themselves. Wasn't that exactly what the Nazis wanted?

This is digusting, how can the IDF call itself a defence force when it spends most of it's time occupying palistinian land?

how can the IDF call itself a defence force when it spends most of it's time occupying palistinian land?

Because it is "defending" the Israeli population from "terrorists".

War is Peace

So true, all countries have "ministeries of defense". Yet, they all keep attacking each other.

Israeli Soldier on Trial in Girl's Death
Thursday, December 9, 2004 11:30 AM EST
The Associated Press
By LAURIE COPANS

An Israeli soldier went on trial in a military court Thursday on charges of repeatedly shooting a 13-year-old Palestinian girl to make sure she was dead.

Soldiers fired at the girl, Iyman Hams, as she approached a military observation post near the Rafah refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 5. The soldiers said they thought she was planting a bomb. The girl's family said she was on her way to school.

According to the five-count indictment, the officer approached the girl after she was shot and fired two rounds at her body from close range in an outlawed practice known as "verifying the kill." He walked away, turned around and shot her again, the indictment charged.

"According to the evidence, the officer shot the body of the young Palestinian child," prosecutor Ronen Ketsev told journalists. "Under the circumstances, he had absolutely no reason to do so."

The officer also tried to persuade some of his soldiers to lie about the case, Ketsev said.

Yoav Mali, a defense attorney, denied the girl was just walking past the military post.

"She was not innocent," Mali told reporters at the court. "She was there to commit, to take part in a terrorist attack on the post or near the post."

The soldier, who has not been identified, has been charged with two counts of illegally using his weapon, and one count each of obstruction of justice, conduct unbecoming an officer and improper use of authority.

Palestinian hospital officials said the girl was shot at least 15 times, mostly in the upper body.

In four years of Israeli-Palestinian violence, hundreds of Palestinian children and teens have been killed by army fire, often in clashes between stone throwers and Israeli troops. The army rarely launches investigations into the incidents.

Israeli soldiers have become increasingly wary of Palestinian teenagers and women, after several carried out suicide bombings or transported explosives. The Rafah camp is a frequent flashpoint of fighting between soldiers and Palestinian militants.

The accused officer initially said he came under fire from Palestinian gunmen at least 300 yards away as he approached the girl's body and shot at the ground to deter the fire, a military official said. A soldier in an observation tower said the officer aimed at the girl's body, the official said.

he may bnot have been being anti-semitic or racist but he showed a disgusting level of contempt for a section of those who fell victim to a racial genocide.
