Years ago I read an essay by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. in which he claimed that Bush (the first one) was a fascist. He defined fascism as placing the rights of the State above the rights of the individual.

I have to wonder what he'd make of Bush the Re-Run.

Prisoners declared enemy combatants do not have the right to a lawyer and the American judiciary cannot second-guess the military's classification of such detainees, the Justice Department argued yesterday in a brief to an appeals court.

The Justice Department is arguing that anyone, without any evidence, can be declared an "enemy combatant" and that there can and should be no review of the case.

First military tribunals and now the ability to "disappear" people.

Is Bush's US of A looking more and more like a Third World dictatorship everyday, or is it just me?
