i watched the news the other day...you know that one where they show castro falling...kinda funny....

and it got many people thinking that he may be too old to be leading Cuba...and many were wondering if he would resign....

so i was wondering...

who would replace him as the leader of Cuba????

There'd be quite a little controversy, different leaders and generals in Cuba will claim leadership, and while the Cuban people seek a new leader, U.S. troops from Guantanamo Bay will pour out into Santiago, then conquor the rest of Cuba.

With situations as they are right now, I think it will probably be King George II.

I don't think there would be any controversy. Castro remains "president" which is actually president of their equivalent to our "state department" which is more like an overseeer of administrative duties and newly created legislature. There are a number of other people who compose this state department, and given that Castro may die one day or resign, these people would continue functioning quite easily without him until an election were called for a new president.

There is no such means to stake a claim to the right of power. Although I wouldn't not be surprised if upon resignation he is legally able to choose the next guy, either way, this could be changed during the election which would follow at the end of the term. More than likely if this is the case he will choose his brother Raul -- who would probably drive Cuba more towards communism than Castro ever would.

I know that was funny. Nothing in this world is funnier than seeing fucking old people fall hard on the ground.

I go and hang out at retirement center just for those kinds of laughs. Oh god, especially if they break a hip, laughs all around!

You know what else is funny? Seeing blind people eat it! Hilarous, they don't know there is a step and BAM face first into concrete.

first lets get one things straight....i didnt mean like i actually laughed....its one of those tings that would of been funny...if it werent a senior citizen...you would laugh if it was one of your friends, only if he didnt get hurt....

i feel bad for Castro cus he fell...but when he fell it reminded me of some other tings dat happened with my friends, i wasnt laughing directly at Castro.

if Castro was to resign or die, do you guys tink dat the U.S. would atttempt a coup with whoever took leadership of Cuba? or would they jus leave it alone?

Well I found the Castro think kind of humourous, because he himself "joked" that he was "all in one peice," and if he can find humor in the situation, I suppose we can too. I mean, it wasnt hilarious, but it was semi-humorous.

Anyways, I believe the U.S. stated that once he was out of power, we may try to remove the socialist state.

Uh, yeah, a broken knee cap and a fractured arm isn't funny no matter what.

It's even worse for Castro because it takes longer for old bones to mend

There is nothing wrong with a bit of slapstick. It would have been better if he wasn't old, but I bet he finds it funny now. Everything I do like that is funny two weeks on from the incident.

If the U.$. did try to take over Cuba, do you reckon it could be turned around into another Bay of Pigs, or do you think they would succed this time?

Raul Castro will most likely replace Fidel to continue the Cuban 'socialist' state.

As for Fidel falling, you can always depend on American media to make an asshole of any leader they see as a viable threat to their hegemony. I doubt they'd ever replay Donald Rumsfeld's infamous quotes regarding the 'terrorists' in Iraq :

"We know where the terrorists are, they're in Bhagdad, Tikrit, north, south, east, west..."

As much as they make Fidel look like a moron, the American gov't has always been at least 10 times worse...they have idiots in their administration...at least Fidel is educated. lol.

It'd be interesting to see what would happen if there was video of Bush choking on the pretzel.

would it make a difference if Castro resigned and assigned someone as president?

cus this way it would be someone who would hold the same political view as him...cus if he was to die, then there would be all types of little wars within his ministry to take control of Cuba...

and surely the u.s. would jump at this opportunity to appoint some type of puppet government.

Hopefully the working class will take control of the cuban state after Castro dies or resigns.
