I'm curious to know how many ppl here have heard or know about the MCP.

A bit of background info:

The MCP was founded in Singapore in mid-april of the 1930s.During World War 2, MCP led the Malayan People's Anti-Japanese Army(MPAJA)as an effective resistance movement. They were trained and equipped by the British(Malaya was under British colonial rule).Based in the jungles of Malaysia, they carried out guerilla attacks against Japanese troops. The MCP was legalised after WW2,though they kept a stockpile of their weapons. In 1948,the party, led by Ching Peng(an article about him came up some time ago in the local papers coz he died that day)formed Malay Races Liberation Army(MRLA)to make a revolution attempt in Malaya. The Malayan Emergency was declared, lasting 12 years.

My grandpa fought in at well as part of the British Air Force Rescue Services. I'm not 100% sure on detail, this was in the 50's or early 60's I think.

Interestingly,it was called The Emergency and not a war because they didn't want to affect investments.

I wish i can meet the veterans here but most of them have immigrated to China. They fought for what they believed but end up being treated like outcasts. After all,the definition of communism here is bullshit and corruption. And they teach this in school, ensuring that most of everyone grow up with that idea.

Interesting. Was he in combat or in rescue services only?
