in general i find communism to be the most practical aspect of politics, but i ask how the money side of things would work. No-one would work for free so id like to ask how you propose a communist state would fund itself? what are the alternatives to money, and what would we use instead other than a barter system?

A communist state's source of funding is usually derived by taxing the rich until they become poor or outright confistication of the assets of whomsoever it wants

Umm, in communism there are no rich people and money would probably become of secondary inportance, that is assuming that money even will exist. Many would argue that "payment" would come from the means of life, ie food, clothing, a home, goods, services, etc etc etc.
For this to occur, a little thing called a Social Revolution must take place somewhere between the advent of socialism and the gradual attainment of communism, otherwise, both of those systems would collapse. The Social Revolution is basically the destruction of the former "ideas" and "social mores and norms" of a capitalist society, and onto a higher plain of thought and perception of the world. When work is transformed from "oh shit, I have to work today" to "I'm working to better myself and mankind" (something like that I'm sure, I can't see into the future) then the Social Revolution in that area of thought would be complete.
When scarcity (while more than likely will always exist in some form) becomes less and less, and money is no longer needed to attain anything of importance, money would just become defunkt. Many old tribal systems had no need for money, it sounds odd, but think of a communist society as "one big tribe of equals."
Read up on it, numerous books on the subject, numerous theories and theses. I hope that helps.
