Members of the Socialist Party of Michigan are holding an organizing meeting in one week to discuss the Socialist Party and the prospects of organizing a Flint chapter. Discussion will try to focus on the Principles of the Socialist Party, organization, activism and of course socialism. Perhaps a short history lesson on the Socialist Party's past in Flint. And hopefully some of you will decide to join our Party and help to organize a Flint chapter, which will be a historic step as there has not been a Flint Socialist Party since the 1940s (to my knowledge).
This meeting will be informal with a social atmosphere. An important aspect of activism and of socialism is cooperation and solidarity. Lively, and respectful, discussion will be encouraged, and we welcome your questions.
Please take a moment and read our Principles at http://www.spmichigan.org before attending so you have an idea where we stand, and bring any questions you may have too. Membership in the Socialist Party requires general agreement with those Principles, and an annual membership dues ($15 minimum, which can be paid in payments if needed).
By the way, we use the term 'Flint Socialist Party' loosely to include anyone within Genesee and the surrounding Counties, so all are welcome. An 'official' name will be decided upon at the meeting if we have the minimum of 5 members who organize a chapter.
