Just had this idea. It's not really communistic. Anyways, the idea for a form of government is this: basically, excepting the necesary laws against pollution, and other abuses, business would be free to do as it pleases. However, all citizens would be required to use government controled bank accounts. You could make as much money as you want, up to a point, say 50 million dollars, but any money made after that would be taken by the government and used for social services and other such things. If you did something like, bought a house, and had 48 million in your bank account, all money you made until you reached the 50 million mark would be yours. Additionally, there would be safeguards to prevent the abuse of any loopholes. Any people that had more than 50 million at the time of switch over to this government form, say bill gates, worth 100 biliion dollars, would be allowed to keep 50 million and the rest would be used for the benefit of the people.

So, do you think this would work? Once again, I know it's not really communist.

Problems:

a) Deflation

b) The rich don't keep their money in banks. Their worth is invested in various sorts of capital. Thus, they avoid handing over their money to the government - sure, you could lower the thresh-hold from 50 million, but between deflation and everyone pulling their money the fuck out of yr country, the gov't would end up pretty fucking bankrupt.

The money being taken out of the country can be regulated, that's not a problem.

Everyone would earn fifty million $ and then quit working, rather than continue working for the government exclusively. The government would be broke

Historically, all attempts to regulate the accumulation of weath have come to grief.

No matter what laws you manage to enact to "tax the rich", they always find ways to escape the tax-collector...or, at worst, pay a nominal tax while hiding the real bulk of their income.

We are never going to "out-think" them on this issue; there's no point in even trying.

We should just take it all, period. :D

Also, keep in mind that when people feel their monies are being threatened they will hoarde it somewhere, as has happened many times in history. So I think it's a good idea, but the greedy ones will try to find a way to keep their money, most likely will.

Well said.

No matter how hard we try the rich will always find some find of loophole in the system in order to keep there money away from the government.

Even if they cant "find" a loophole they manage to "make" a loophole that suits their needs.

So why not just take it all. :) lol. ;)

I agree. Just take it all, and if they dont like it, let them go live in poverty for a few years and see if their opinion changes.
