I understand what leftwing and rightwing MEAN, but I don't know why they are called left & right. Do you?

After the Borgeois revolution in France they had a kind of Parliament set up. Traditionally those with right wing views sat to the right of the speaker, and those with left wing views sat to the left. The right and left names came about because of that.
