View Full Version : Finally, the yuppy culture takes a deserved blow

I'm sure you've all heard about the events at Parliament yesterday.

Amidst all the pathetic traditional parliamentary customs and stupid Royal ascents in Norman French, a very important Bill was passed. I'm still completely confused as to where the yuppies get the basis of their argument. They claim to be fighting on "human rights" and "prejudice" grounds. Is it just me, or is that incomprehensible?

Anyway, it's apparently a blow for the government as this will be a bigger election issue than it previously would've been. But Labour outlined the abolition of fox-hunting as a policy in their 97 manifesto, and they won that year in a landslide. So is it really going to affect their chances of being re-elected? I doubt it very much.

Also, does anyone think, like me, that this Law may not be fully implemented for a long long time? The toffs have already said they are going to take out civil disobedience on the issue. And I even heard the most ridiculous thing from one of the yuppy Peers. Baroness Millilieu claimed "there will be martyrs". MARTYRS!?!? The only martyrs I see in this issue are the millions of foxes that must've been slaughtered for the freedom of their species! Martyrs!!!??? It's one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Martyrs in the name of fox-hunting. I never thought I'd hear it.

Anyway, my point is, despite this becoming law, does anyone else think that compromise after concession will be made by this government and any future governments to ensure that fox-hunting does go on in some capacity?

I hear that the police say they will have trouble implementing this law - I have a solution.

If these yuppies are caught breaking this law which defends against savagery, then let loose the police dogs on them so they can be savaged. Simple. We'll give them martyrs, and they will all be laughed at in generations to come for wearing stupid yuppy outfits on horseback, cruelly training dogs to slaughter foxes and continuing a despicable tradition that has gone on way too long as we stride into the 21st Century.

Fox hunting is a 12th Century, not a 21st Century sport.

I'm very glad that the Commons forced this law through. I hope the snobs dont mange to win in the courts.

I hope they carry on hunting!
No listen... any landowner who allows hunts to pass over 'his' land will be subject to massive fines, and the hunts will have their horses/dogs confiscated.
How funny would that be to watch? :D

Martyr them in their Bentleys and public school blazers.

Officially, it has to be implemented in February.

As to whether or not the police will bother with arrest, we'll have to see. Those fox hunters willing to disobey the law claim that the courts won't be able to handle the weight of business brought on by arrests.

I suggest the police confiscate their ridiculous outfits.

the media have over-hyped this to the extreme-20,000 people turned up at the huge march against it, a fornight before 40,000 attended a rally in that same place against the occupation of Iraq-was that on any mass-media?

Yes. I saw it on the BBC News 24 channel.

WTF? Fox hunting yuppies?

I don't know of any to speak of, but It sounds like the bill should be passed if this is happening. Foxes are an important part of the natural wilderness lifecycle and should not be hunted. Its alarming that the government should even have to legislate this to begin with.

The sport hunting yuppies and back woods trappers will have to watch their own hides.

Are you being sarcastic?

You've not heard about fox-hunting or the recent (over the last 3 years) events?

yeah, there was 1 million at the biggest anti-war demonstration. These people going on about losing there jobs didn't care very much about the miners.

On a side note, am I the only one who thinks that, more than anything, the government's position of fox-hunting, whilst not "bad", is inconsistent?

Surely if we are to outlaw fox-hunting we should also outlaw such things as animal testing for cosmetics.

the governments too scared to stand up to the big cosmetic companies.

Pardon me for interrupting (I am only a stupid yank after all), but don't you have to be killed or at the very least imprisoned to become a martyr?

At any rate, good for the House of Commons. I've long thought fox hunting a barbaric passtime.

I don't know about a dictionary definition of martyr. But I think everyone would agree that anyone who makes sacrifices to further a cause is, in ways, a martyr. They don't have to die.

Hey if they want to die for their cause, that's fine by me

"Their cause" is disgusting. Aren't you interested in enviromental issues?

Well I just looked it up on Merriam-Webster. Seems to me that these people are anything but, according to this definition.

Main Entry: 1mar·tyr
Pronunciation: 'mär-t&r
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English, from Late Latin, from Greek martyr-, martys, literally, witness
1 : a person who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion
2 : a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle
3 : VICTIM; especially : a great or constant sufferer <a martyr to asthma all his life -- A. J. Cronin>

The environmental issues? There are far bigger environmental issues to be concerned with that just 'don't kill the cute little fox.'

They don't have to die.
Aww, why not? :P

To be honest, not banning fox hunting would be about the most "socialist" move they've made in their time in power: At least they'd have protected a few jobs by the end of their term.

What perplexes me is why "y'all" care about the fate of poor little foxy-woxy? Chicken-licken is still going to get scumped, and goosey-lucy is indeed going to be stuffed; what's the big fucking deal?

Why bow your head to the fucking "Labour" party when they've done nothing but go against your wishes? Why allow yourself to be bought with a ban on a sport that is in effect unenforcable? (If you think it can be enforced, you've evidently never seen what police numbers in the "countryside" are like)

Fuck labour, fuck their stupid, petty tactics to win back "votes" from you good people. I'd rather vote for a fucking Tory than let those treacherous, lying, self-serving arsewipes take another term.

Can't you see you are being manipulated?

Yeah. If Labour were really interested in banning hunting they'd have done it straight after they got elected. They have just saved this bill for when they are in dire need of support just before an election in an attempt to retain their big majority.

bolshevik butcher

supporting this bill, doesn't mean supporting the "labour" party as a whole.

That's not really very fair. Labour have been trying to implement tis bill for a long time, yet have been opposed at every turn, by the House of Lords, for instance.

We don't have to Labour, or even support them, to back one of their bills.
