Ok, obviously throughout history symbols have been used for various causes. The swaztica was just a symbol for power, now it's used as a fascist/nazist symbol. The Hammer and the sickle symbolized the unity of the Agricultural peasants and the Industrial workers in Soviet Russia and now is used for communism everywhere. I'm sure there's more, but those are the two most blantently obvious ones to me.

However, does anyone know what the Clenched fist symbol represents? I was told it was used in both leftist and rightist movements. Does anyone know the ideology behind that one. Thanks.

I think this would be better in the History forum. (And by the way, I do not know the answer to this question.)

The raised fist:

The fingers, when seperate, are weak and vulnerable. Like the working class, they can, when united, strike a mighty blow.

Also, the fist is a symbol of refusal to work. Try using a hammer when your hand is closed.

I've never heard of it being used by rightists, though.

Awesome. It makes it much more impactful on me now (is impactful a word? ). Yeah I heard it from a rightie that it could be used for both. So that's why I asked the question. I was pretty sure it was only for the left, because it seems more predominant for our side.

Thanks for moving it redstar, I didn't know where to put, just somewhere where people would see it and I could get an answer :D .
