That murderous bastard Dick Cheney is coming to Edmonton. I feel this is the worst possible thing that could happen. Our right wing premier has actively supported all the Bush governments decisions despite the wishes of the people of the province and the decisions of the Federal government.

Has anyone here ever organized a protest? I'd appreciate any advice.

And of course as soon as I find out when he'll be here you're all invited to come. The murderer is no more welcome in Canada, than he was in Athens.

The best thing to do is contact your local Stop The War group if you have one, or your local Social Forum if you have one of those.

Sort of.

I organised a walkout in my school in March last year. It really just took having the balls to do it and to attract media attention but that will always be easier because it's the spectacle of having a school do it, as well as my school being the former secondary school of the Taoiseach (PM).

It's also much easier to get a bunch of teenagers to leave class than to get people to meet up in a town centre.

As has been suggested, your best oppurtunity is to try and organise something the local anti-war group or left-wing parties because of the availability of resources. Just try to argue in which way you think the demo should be taken rather than just accepting what some fluffy hippy says. :P
