Riots in RED SQUARE - over a soccer match!

Today Japan had their first ever victory over the Russians in Yokohama.
Following that an angry drunken mob took to the streets.Red square was overrun by them.they threw molontov cocktails at buses & cars and some people lost their lives.........

I dunno much at the mo,im trying to find out more.

Unfortunately common amongst some soccor crowds. Watch the news directly after England loses a game for an excellent example. There's only a few who spoil it for everyone, as is always the case, but they certainly put on a display.

Actually Soccer isnt just an american word,we call it soccer over here In eire cuz we got gaelic football.

& angie I know what u mean but this was on far bigger a scale than what the english soccer hooligans be up to.

There is an opinion, according to which the whole thing was initiated by the russian racist organizations, particularly skinheads. Some people think it was all planned, some think that not.
The most interesting thing is that Russia have lost the game, and the fans yelled: " Russia!!!!!!" and were smashing the cars and buses, fighting against cops and destroying the center of the Russian capital, like it was some Japanese city.
Russia is in the bad situation now, people are hungry for victories and they didn't get it.
What will happen if those all people will start civil war?

Ah, Angie knows all about this... Yeah, they're called "hooligans" by the locals, people who "show their love" for their team in a gang-like manner. Seems to almost have a cult following...

There's a game out there about this type of thing called Hooligans: Storm Over Europe... Fun game.. Violent, but it's pretty accurate to the real life counterpart, for the most part anyway...

Apparently they're modelling themselves on the English hooligans of the 70s who they regard as the best hooligans.

The Japanese police were warned that they were the most dangerous fans. Pity the Russian government didnt expect such a reaction.
