laws on strikes

Here in my country has been a long struggle for teachers fighting for their right to a decent wage. The strikes have been going on for many years, about a month ago begun a strike. Now, and everything has been tried to settle this, has the government enforced a bill that is going to prevent future strikes.

There have the same laws put on fishermen and other classes.

What's your opinion strikes? do they do harm or are they a good way to make a stand. Is it neccessary to put laws on strikes?
