Just curious if anyone wants to hear the One (rare version). There's talking in the background. Very sad, but suiting for Remembrance Day. If you're interested just look up 'One' in your downloading program and it should just pop up with the rare version too.

Metallica should be deported to Siberia, IMHO, for five reasons.
1) 99% of the music they have done in the past 15 years, especially St. Anger;
2) destroying Napster;
3) 99% of the music they have done in the past 15 years, especially St. Anger;
4) destroying Napster; and
5) St. Anger
Although Lars spoke out against maltreatment of Guantanamou Bay prisoners, so...whatever. :marx: :engles:

Well I was being kind of sarcastic. I think that remembering the fight for our "freedom" to maintain the capitalist way is only perpetuating the cycle of war. Because then any remote change in regime is seen as threatening to our "freedom." I mean look what the US is doing. But I still think the needless death and people being crippled is awful. Kind of what the song depicts. I honestly don't care whether you like Metillica or not. If it's not about the song, could you kindly take it to another thread.

I'm sorry, I guess I missed the part in the disclaimer at the top of this thread that said 'If you say something I don't care about, don't post in my thread'. Don't be so fucking precious.

Threads are for specific topics. Not any bullshit you can produce (which I'm sure is a lot). And why would the disclaimer say anything remotely like that. It has nothing to do with the song. There's some groups I don't like, but I'll listen to a few songs of theirs. If anything the disclaimer should say "if you're going to say something offtopic, you're probably an idiot without anything intelligent or thoughtful to say." And see where getting off topic leads?

It just bothers me how much alot of mainstream or even some smaller artist will make anti war songs by the boatload while there is no war but let one start they either wrap themselves in the flag or are curiously silent. Honestly....it doesnt take balls for a Slayer to write "War Ensamble" when they did.....of Metallica to write "one" when they did..the list goes on. The artist who are doing it now are earning our respect..the ones who wrote such songs before and dont stand on those same principles, well ill let you decide whats wrong with them.

I would like to hear the rare version but have no P2P...
To Anarchocommie: Well, its been 17 years almost since One came out so their opinions may have changed, bare in mind what money does to people and that One came before they were huge.
And their best album was in the last 15 years to answer the "5 reasons they suck" post. And One is outside the 15 year "boundary" anyway.

That would be pretty cool. That reminds me though...I haven't been high in a dog's age. Ok that's my goal for the weekend: Get high and listen to that song :lol:

99% of the shit i heard from them sucks. They other 1% is average.
But what can be expected form a band who appeared on MTV Icon and had Korn and Limp Bullshit doing covers of their "classics"????

Well alot of their older stuff, mainly the first 3 albums, pioneered modern day thrash/heavy metal. Cliff was an awesome bass player. Just listen to the song Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). I have yet to hear any other bass solos.

The first album was very one dimensional. I liked the 2nd and 3rd albums. I remember hearing the black album or whatever the hell they called it and thought oh they want to sound like bon jovi and never listened again.

Funny that you should mention those two songs...
That album was basically a stark change in musical direction for them. Trying to go for a more commercial radio sound I'm not opposed to such things except when it is a turn for the worse.

But lyrically and musically they improved.

I disagree. Musically, they changed their sound to much more simple riffs than they had used in their previous albums. If you compare the leads Kirk Hammet played in the older stuff and then in their newer stuff it's pretty obvious he was more creative in the earlier albums.

But half the songs on Justice For All are about the same guitar style as The Black Album. The lyrical quality's evolution is almost indesputable though.
