I've just recently heard the Perfect Circle version of Imagine. At first I didn't like it, but then it grew on me. I'm just curious as to which version (A Perfect Circle or John Lennon) people liked better. Is there any other remixes of the song? I'm tossed up between the two :( .

I think that Imagine is a pretty shit song generally. Far too idealistic and happy for my liking though the APC version is quite good, more so for the mood of the song.

I remember when WKRP was getting pressured from religious conservatives not to play a bunch of songs, Imagine was one of them finally Mr Carlson stood up to the bastards. Too bad that was TV and not reality as that sort of thing happens all the time now but instead they just go along with the religious fanatics.

I think it's beautiful.
The original version, that is.

Too "happy"? WTF are you talking about? Have you ever heard the song?

Do you maybe mean "too melow" for your industrial metal crap standards?

RZ, I agree with you, but lay off industrial metal!

I think both are good songs, but the original is better. I think there was alot more deeper meaning in Lennon's version (even though the lyrics were the same). Whos' more revolutionary anyway? Maynard is great, but Lennon has a stronger message.

To be honest, Imagine is a hard song to cover, and APC are lucky to get away with it.

I like the original. There's also a good jazzy instrumental version by Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders, and a crappy version by Blues Traveler.

I just dislike songs that are about how we all wish the world was a great place. Not to my taste.

I don't ever listing Industrial of any form as my 'standard' other than NIN (which many would argue about) , though I do like it so I don't know where you got that from. I'll give you my list of cd's and mp3s and we'll see how much of a standard it is seeing as there's about 5 industrial bands there. It's nice to see that we have another musical dictator who insists everyone must like what they like.

hmmm...I recall you saying:

I think that Imagine is a pretty shit song generally.

You're both intitled to your opinions.

I gave my opinion on the song, I was replied with an attack on my opinion. It's different.

Yeah, I just don't care anymore. What industrial do you like? I like Fear Factory, some NIN, and can't think of any others off the top of my head. I'm looking for more.

I don't really know much Industrial to be honest, I just like what I've heard so far. There's thread in Music on Industrial at the moment actually. Might be a few suggestions there. I generally listen to some Industrial on Online radios, but some of them don't refresh with band names unfortunately.

Would it make you happy if I said that I strongly dislike industrial metal instead of saying that it's crap?

I'm not insisting that everyone likes what I like. I just have reasons for liking and disliking certain music and I'll defend those reasons.

You got me.

Fuck all of you self-professed "industrial metal heads". That shit isn't even real industrial metal.

I prefer that to the original  . Just kidding. I'm not saying I could do better (even though playing the piano with my nose was interesting), but some parts made me cringe :o .

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

This is a good song. One of ma favourites too, and i love the orginal version.

You can never beat the origional of a song especially if it's done by John Lennon. People shouldn't even be allowed to cover it because the majority of the time bands fuck covers of good songs up. Take all this manufactured pop crap that just soulessly destroys timeless songs.

I think Joan Baez sings it quite nicely! However i prefer the original version.
