I read in some online Anarchist FAQ that stealing was uncommon during the revolutionary period. During the whole time there were only several (six?) incidents reported of workers stealing from factories.

But thats drawn from memory and its overgeneralized. I'm just wondering what you guys know about the rest of crime situation. What about non-property related crimes? Rape, murder, etc. Comments appreciated.

According to some sources I've read, vendettas were a big problem. Some militias made it a capital offense to take revenge and went so far as to shoot a prominent anarchist. I can look up the name for you if you want.

Another problem was looting, and local workers councils said that looters would be punished severely.

As far as rape goes, well so many female comrades had weapons that I doubt it was much of a problem.

All of the historical literature and journals I have read have pointed toward little to no crime. The armed worker's militias firmly stopped crime and murder, and as oglach pointed out, our women were armed. :D

In case anyone was wondering, if I could live in any time period, I would probably choose to fight in the Spanish Revolution.

My rather vague impression is that the Spanish anarchists did not believe in prisons. Thus, crime was punished by (1) a stern warning not to do it again; and (2) execution.
