As of yesterday the British music scene is immeasurably poorer. John Peel was a true lover of music and will be missed by many many people.

Yea, I heard yesterday and spewed out swear words on MSN while my friend's mum was watching...
Well, he sure as hell left his mark on the world...Lets try to remember him not as another dead rocker but as an inventive intellectual lover of music. My band's gonna do a tribute today making it all up as we go along...Hopefully in an inventive way John would have liked.

Also, when in Uni my dad made a magazine with some friends, a music magazine which only ever had one issue but got onto John Peel's show. They had an interview with a totally made up band which John peel suggested we all look out for in the future! Also, has anyone else heard the Hillbilly version of Pretty Vacant that was on his show?

RIP John. The only programme on R4 I ever listened to was Home Truths :D What an utterly great radio DJ, he will be sorely missed.

James Dean Bradfeild of MSP said - he opened up a new world of music to me, that I would never have heard without him - something like that, which I think says it all.

Peace.

Long live the revolutionary. British music is crap and he made a fine effort to make it better.

Thank Peel for Jimi Hendrix too. And PJ Harvey. And punk in general.
