Haven't seen it in ages, just amazing it really is. Question though:
Is Canada really like that?
What did others think of the film?
As for Canada, they said that they were showing a poor area, but they flashed like two seconds strait down the middle of a road, not really showing the housing. If that was Scarborough (an area in greater Torornto) they were showing, its true our ghettoes are fairly clean but that's because of social programs, not because people there give a shit enough not to litter. It's also very telling that they didn't show any night footage, where you would very likely see young Jamaican kids reaching down their pants everytime a car drives by.
In Vancouver way out in the suburbs, people don't lock their doors while at home. But you're really only at risk of a home invasion if you're involved in gang activity. Inner Vancouver is very different, not only do people lock their doors, but they normally buy new locks when they move into a place, because previous locks have been kicked in.
Not that I'm some gun nut, but relly what this film is gonna do, is take guns out of the hands of the poor, that's it. The NRA and the KKK are still gonna go on strong, because the general American public refuses to believe that they are anything but "#1" and "land of the free". This romantasism about Canada is endearing to Canadians, but misreprestnted.
