Does anyone know much about the Ruling Communist Party of Moldova. They have the presidency and 71 seats in the parliament. From what I have gathered they have raised pensions and wages substantially, supported the collectivization of farm land and deprivatized some industry. At the same time they have promised at least at this point not to nationalize any small business land rights.

Super name. The kind that'll get Xian mobs hunting you down...
;P

I know very little -- other than neoliberalism has beggared this stretch of no-man's-land between Romania and the former CCCP. There's been a lot of gangsterism and sex/drug/arms trading AFAIK, and people left in droves looking for ANY kind of work. It was so bad, I'm not in the least surprised that people want stalinism back.

But where these people go from here is -- as I have said elsewhere -- totally dependent on what happens with the working-class in the newly-expanded EU. This party, and the workers who support it, cannot possibly be independent actors surrounded by superior capitalist -- I mean including gangster -- forces.

Well this party does not seem to be stalinist. they won in fair elections, and while they have passed some major reforms, nothing as of yet completely radical. Hopefully they can build their economy back and slowly nationalize industry. Which seems to be the path they are currently taking.

I know almost nothing about this party (I heard something once or twice in the past); but I can't believe it could be anything other than a regroupment around elements of the local ex-soviet nomenklatura. It would seem to make sense that they would be modelled-on, and have contact with, the in-power ex-soviet stalinists in Ukraina and Belorus.

Moldavia sent 42 soldiers to Iraq recently. Hmmmmm........
They celebrated Lenins birthday and decorated the capital with two new statues of him!!
They have the lowest wages in all of Europe. (According to a fascist organization called EU (European Union).)

Well folks, thats all from Radio Moldavia for now. Good night and be careful out there! ;)
