Prison or Work

IN PRISON ...you spend the majority of your time in an 8x10 cell.
AT WORK...you spend most of your time in a 6x8 cubicle.

IN PRISON...you get three meals a day.
AT WORK...you only get a break for 1 meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON...you get time off for good behavior.
AT WORK...you get rewarded for good behavior with more work.

IN PRISON...a guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK...you must carry around a security card and unlock and open all the doors yourself.

IN PRISON...you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK...you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON...you get your own toilet.
AT WORK...you have to share.

IN PRISON...they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK...you cannot even speak to your family and friends.

IN PRISON...all expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work required.
AT WORK...you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON...you spend most of your life looking through bars from the inside wanting to get out.
AT WORK... you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON... there are wardens who are often sadistic.
AT WORK... they are called managers.

Comrades there is only a thin line dividing prison and work

Also this line is blurring under capitalism

The day is not far when the average worker will aspire to get accomadation at a prison than work for his capitalist bosses

We have to take some of these here in finland: army, civil alternative service or total objection, and I think of going to jail.

To boot, you'll be living off of the wealth of working people. I would've almost expected this on a communist forum.

In prison... you get raped and beaten. Sounds like a good reason not to go.

And Gaf, what does "arbeids mach frei" mean?

He's complaining about the ordeal of going to work. He'd rather go to jail and leech off of someone else's work. Misunderstood indeed.

In Vancouver, for many that day is most days.

From what I hear it's not much different in England.

In India, that day will be the day that your prisons tame-up a little.

not necessarily. in prison in the states they can make you work for 25 cents an hour and they charge you a dollar for every day you stay in jail. though i appreciate the humor.

In Angola State Prison, often called "The Farm" since it was a plantation at one time, the new prisoners make 10 cents an hour and evenutally moving up to like a quarter maybe 30 cents.

Not to mention you can't quit jail.

and you might want to post some of your lovely prison links, hammie, so people can see why itīs better to work than to get worked...

He's pointing out that work is rapidly becomming indistinguishable from prison:

He isn't advocating this situation but is lamenting how capitalism is making prison look appealing.

Misunderstood indeed.

Indeed.

Jeez, give me a break.

One day in An American prison and you pukes would quickly recognize that they are in no way alike. You would be begging to go to a mundane cubicle, and probably have a little of your self-righteous apathy beaten out of you.

Even as a social-commentary metaphor, this prison/work thing is absolutely absurd. Most of you guys truly are delusional and have been rendered idiotic by your very agenda.

Nope, its not like that here in finland. Also I would be sent to "low-risk" facility where I can continue my education and so on. So its not a problem. But you must admit that the system DOES NOT WORK.

The capitalist pigs have outsmarted the workers again!!!!!!!!

While the workers were waiting in queues to get accomodation in prisons
A giant conspiracy was being hatched by leading capitalists around the world to jump the waiting line as usual

In the last two years top executives from enron like
Kenneth lay(enron CFO I think)
(He might get 127 yrs in Jail ,Looks like he's planning for his next life also  )

Worldcom executives
martha stewart
and the imclone ceo sam waksal
Calsito tansani(parmalat)
etcetcetc (a very long list)
have all been sentenced to prison or will be soon

Jack welch and DICK grasso thought their pay and obscene retirement packets were enough to send them to prison but they underestimated what it takes to go to prison

The capitalist queue includes everyone from italian prime minister Silvio Bersculonni (Investigation still on) and half the traders and investment bankers of Wall street

COMRADES we will not let this happen !!!!!
We will take to the streets and demand for the common man the right
to get accomodation in prison

We will storm the prisons throw these top management executives out and forcefully lock ourselves inside

Hasta La Jaile Seimpera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

( I think the translation is Ever moving onward to the Jail)

Self-righteous eh?

Being yourself an apathetic American, I wouln't expect you to have even the slightest sense of empathy.

I don't even need to ask you, of course you have been around the homeless. Of course you can understand the daily struggle and degredation suffered by those on the city streets.
