Casablanca (6/1/02)- Earlier today, in an unanimous vote of its Council,
the
Socialist International welcomed the ARF/Dashnaktsutyun as a full,
voting
member of the prestigious organization. The meeting which was attended
by 450

The ARF/Dashnaktsutyun had previously joined the Socialist International

was
accepted with observer status in 1996 and elevated to advisory status in

1999. The socialist International presently comprises 141 political
parties,
some of which either presently lead the governments of their respective
states or act as the leading opposition party in them.
In a separate action, the Socialist International adopted a resolution
submitted by the ARF/Dashnaktsutyun addressing issues of the Southern
Caucasus, but more specifically vis a vis the peaceful and just
resolution of
the Artsakh conflict, as well as the political, cultural, and
socio-economic
needs of the Javakhk population.
