View Full Version : Liberation School: Marxism: Life In Socialism

Comrade Marcel
18th October 2004, 03:56
Greetings Comrades and Friends,

In Januarary 2004 YL hosted the public study group series
"Introduction to Marxism". We are now happy to launch the
follow-up series "MARXISM: LIFE IN SOCIALISM", which aims
to be an examination of what Socialist society would be like. (Note:
if you missed or are interested in "Intro to Marxism", the
course may be hosted again in Feb/March or even sooner, stay in
touch).

YLiberation School is not ment as a place to be lectured, but rather
a place to take part in interactive study group discussions. Students
have the oppertunity to play as active as a role they feel they are
capable of, including the oppertunity to host classes.

The role of the Host is to facilitate and moderate discussion, and
build consensus on issues within the group, not to lecture and talk
down to participants. There are no views that are suppressed at
YLiberation School (except for racist, fascist, sexist, homophobic,
or other harmful views or intents) so everyone gets to add their
opinion. Discussing and debate helps us all to further cultivate our
ideology, which we can apply to our practice and become better
organizers.

Young Left hopes that with students studying at Liberation School,
and eventually becoming hosts themselves, Liberation Schools will be
initiated in other areas in order to create more free space for youth
to learn and debate without corporate or financial restrictions.

This series runs four curriculums, with 4 classes per curriculum, for
a total of 16 sessions. Each class is approx 120 minutes, and will
take place weekly on Sunday afternoons.

If there is no sufficient interest after the first curriculum, the
series may be canceled.
