Does anyone know which of his children are alive, and where they are.
Thanks.

His oldest daughter Hildita, died in 1995 of cancer. His 4 kids from Aleida March are all still alive, living in Cuba. He also has one confirmed illegitimate child, Omar Perez, who apparently is also living in Cuba.

He compared his first daughter which he had with his first wife to Mao, claiming she was the spitting image of Mao Tse-dong and that his communist heart was bursting because of this fact.
blackcatCA, my mistake. I always think of Aleida Guevara as Che's first child rather than Hildita for some reason.

Omar Perez is the son of Che? Who is his mother? Zoila Rodríguez the mulato woman he lived with in the Sierra?

Omar Perez is Che's son by a Cuban woman named Lilia Rosa Perez (I've also seen it as Lidia Rosa Perez). They met sometime in 1959, Omar was born in 1964 I believe. Jorge Castaneda has the details in "Companero", not much on Omar out on the Internet.

I always find that funny that a Republican paper couldn't get her opinion on the struggle in the North.
I remember seeing her in Dublin and someone from Ogra Shinn Féin asking her about the national question in Ireland and her telling him that she was not there to talk about it. Everyone cheered. =D

One interesting thing is that Jon Lee Anderson, in his biography, actually says that Che was faithful to Aleida during their marriage, however, Jorge Castaneda discusses Omar Perez as being Che's illegitimate son, and I'm currently reading Dariel Alarcon Ramirez's (aka Benigno) memoirs, and he indicates that Che had numerous affairs while he was married but was always very discreet about them. It's hard to know who to believe at times..........

I hate to break the bubble but he did most likely have affairs with certain of his comrades who were female in the field. But always respectfully, and as a meeting of minds. He and Aleida wanted different things, she wanted a family and he wanted to be a Revolutionary in the field. He gave her a family and all the distinction, but I think it is inappropriat that Aleida has edited his sexuality out of a lot of his works before releasing them.
This deprives us of seeing the whole human, for his sexuality was very attached to his heart and passion, and understanding who he loved and why is a clue as to what direction his mind was taking towards the end and throughout his life.
Interestingly, if you follow the progression of Che's life, his relationships represented a way for him to learn more about the next direction his life would take. One of the reasons his last years are such a mystery is this is cut off due to censorship, but even some of his earlier loves are edited.
He loved with his mind more than his loins. Someone had to be intellectually of interest in order to be dear to him. The women he loved were all amazing women in their own right, as a feminist it is difficult looking at a time when women often announced themselves to the world through their lovers to be cut off from the knowledge of who these remarkable women are that time forgot, at least we have some of the stories.

well said pandora, I couldn't agree with you more!
I definitely agree that Aleida has done a great disservice to Che by editing some of his journals, I thought about that the whole time I was reading "Otra Vez".
