I beilive so. He thought that the Union was weak. Mao on the other hand he admired greatly, which is why unofficially he called his first daughter Little Mao

Well, that's tough to say. He was impressed by the USSR's independance from the States, but he didn't like their foriegn policies. He thought of the USSR as the America of Communism.. it was imperialistic (perhaps it was so in the name of communism.. but still). Ernesto was very opposed to imperialism. He read lots of Mao in his youth, and he badly wanted to travel there while he spent his time in Guatemala.
I think he preferred the Maoist approach to communism to the Stalinist approach. Above all, he was a Marxist, and Maoism is closely tied to Marxism.

I think he admired the old people who started the communist ideals, like Karl Marx. But he sure disagreed with the way communism had been abused by later people. Such is the fate of capitalism, a fundamental principle that has been twisted over time, to benefit the few.

He didnt like revisionist USSR. He didnt like the relations between the new USSR and USA.
