Comrades

What is happiness and why is it missing in this world?

The answers I think are as follows

The assumption that pleasure and happiness are one and the same is the
bane of our problems in this world

The truth is they are different

How many ever orgasms you have or how much ever drugs you take
Remember you are only feeling pleasure

Now what is pleasure ,its merely the release of chemicals in certain parts of your brain giving you an out of worldy feeling

But pleasure is addictive when one gets addicted he either becomes a sex maniac or a drug addict

Pleasure is like gutter water and happiness is like coco-cola

When one has tasted coco-cola why will he drink gutter water?

Remember Comrades

We all born happy and rich but it is only when we run after pleasure and material wealth that we become unhappy and poor

I don't know what happiness is as of yet but I now what happiness is not
and in this case pleasure is not happiness

I'm not so sure "pleasure" is defined as chemicals that are released to your brain. I think what you are doing here is relating pleasure to that of only certain kinds of pleasure -- the reality is I get pleasure from reading a book. To me, pleasure is happiness, but that's because I'm willing to accept that pleasure can be taken from anything, specifically, anything that makes you happy. All you seem to be doing here is redefining pleasure.

I would give myself 5 minutes before he comes to supress the voice of reason and truth in this forum forever

So now a days I don't post much here

All emotions and feelings are a cause of the brain. So therefor pleasure would be a feeling caused by chemicals.

It beats the hell out of whatever's in third place.

Since neither you nor anyone else I've ever run into has come up with a workable formula for "happiness" (it may be an imaginary concept, like "god")...pleasure looks like "the way to go".

I think he's talking about a more consistent form of happiness other than occasional case of being entertained. I don't think a person can be actually content with his life until he is free. A slave can often be appeased with entertainment and other shit, but can a fella who lacks autonomy and personal liberty actually be a happy person?

The question is, why do we value happiness at all?

Two Dennis Leary Quotes:

"Happiness comes in small doses folks. It's a cigarette butt, or a chocolate chip cookie or a five second orgasm. You come, you smoke the butt you eat the cookie you go to sleep wake up and go back to fucking work the next morning, THAT'S IT!"

"Life sucks, get a fucking helmet, okay?"

I think that I agree with you, India. People think that pleasure, whether it be a woman, money, or drugs, is happieness. It isn't true happiness is a state of mind that only a certain ratio of crap to goodness in one's life can produce.
