What do you all think about Felix Rodriguez, who I guess lives in Miami now. It really disturbs me that he boasts about taking Che's Rolex as a trophy. If I were on of Che's kids or relatives, I would seriously be all over him to get that back.

I just think it's wrong.

errr did Felix Rodriguez commit any crimes ?Or was he just doing his job , the desision to kill che had allready been taken place .Isn't Honorato Rojas (the peasant who twice betrayed the group, and led the rearguard into the ambush at Vado del Yeso .)the wrong doer ?

If I were one of che's children i suppose i would also want to have my father's Rolex ,however Felix can brag as much as he wants to ..theres not much dignity shown in capturing trophies off dead people .

His treachery is a crime enough, becoming a servant of the Imperialists cannot be forgiven!

He proudly served as a pilot during the civil war in Nicaragua, he has enough blood on his hands!

The traitor deserves to face the consequences of his actions!

I think from what I have read he had some discretion as to what to do with Che...i.e. kill him, take him somewhere etc.

And, definitely his actions during Iran-Contra are disgusting enough warrant me hating him, even without the Che incident.

From what I've read, he parades around Miami knowing he has the full protection of the Bush family and the Whitehouse. He doesn't seem to think there is no dignity in keeping a trophy of someone he had killed.

The only good thing is that despite his best efforts, obviously, the legacy and image of Che has lived on...and will continue to live on long after Felix Rodriguez is gone.

There is no dignity in killing someone who made something of his life, while he has not. Also, it is just wrong that he took Che's Rolex. Thats pretty much the lowest of the low, stealing from a dead body. Hope he rots in hell.

Have you not read John Lee Anderson's book?Look up his name in the index and refresh your memory.

I dont have the book..they dont have it at the libary here, and to buy the book at the bookstore would cost me a fortune...and Im a poor person, so I havent read John Lee Anderson's book on El Che.

But ok...what situation was he put in? Did somebody threaten to kill his family if he didnt become a traitor? Or did he get lots of money for it?

Basically he's an anti-Castro Cuban who has worked with CIA; he was involved in the Bay of Pigs, and subsequently with Ollie North and the Iran-Contra affair. In 1967 he was sent by the CIA to Bolivia after Che got caught and, according to some accounts, gave the order to execute him. Other authors (such as Jorge Castaneda) say that the order came from the Bolivian government. In any case, he did take Che's Rolex and apparently has it displayed in his house.

Fernando, you really need to read both Jon Lee Anderson's book and Jorge Castaneda's. They are worth the money! :-)

I will try to get them, but in Holland they even refuse to sell Guerilla Warfare by Che Guevara. :(

But still...what is this whole thing about Felix' circumstances?

I remember a few months ago, when I was taking some summer classes, one of my classmates came up and asked me about Che. I was wearing a Che shirt, and he asked me if I believed in Che. I told him yes (of course). He said he was Puerto Rican, and that they knew about Che. He tried to see if I really knew anything about him, by asking if I knew that he was from Argentina. I told him "Yes, from Rosario." Then I mentioned his death and the CIA. He then said that that wasn't true. He said "That's what the textbooks say, but it isn't true. Trust me." I just looked at him suspiciously and didn't say anything. I was like textbooks!?! What the hell kind of textbook are you reading, where they would admit to it? Then he said he knew someone who had worked for Batista, and that this person had told him "stories about Che." I swear, sometimes, I just wish I could smack these people. As far as Rodriguez goes, I've read that part in Anderson's book. He wasn't the one who executed Che. Still, he took Guevara's watch, and that shows how pathetic a person he is.

Che's executioner was Sergeant Mario Teran or something like that

Thomas

On October 8 of 1967 Bolivian troops acting on a tip from local peasants ambushed a guerrilla unit led by the legendary Che Guevara. Wounded and suffering from a strong bout of asthma, Che Guevara was taken prisoner. On the following day a heavily intoxicated Bolivian Sergeant Mario Teran fired six bullets at the Commandante, one of which ripped right through his heart. The eyewitnesses to that tragedy all said that the great revolutionary took death as a soldier and with the stoicism of a philosopher.

Hope that clears it up ;)

Fernando this is what you do.

Go to a library. Find the book and read it. If you don't want to read it, simply look up the first page on Felix Rodirguez in the index.

The rolex was without a doubt a gift from somebody. I mean, we are talking about Che! He didn't care about money at all! He was surely wearing it to honor the person that gave it to him. And yes, it was Teran who pulled the trigger but Rodriguez is a pile of shit nonetheless. :)
