It is based on Russia in the 30's and is about an old revolutionary leader that has been arrested on the orders of 'No.1', who is supposed to be Stalin.

It lays down an interesting insight into the minds of old soviet leaders and how they felt about the world they were creating and what that actuall meant. It is based on actual events that happened, although the charactors are not based on anyone in particular.

It is an interesting struggle between what is necessary in a revolutionary situation. The main charactor is battling between potential death and how that relates to his loyalty to his beliefs, his actions and existence.

I have never read it, but I feel I should, but then, I don't really want to read the works of a serial rapist.
