Hello folks, I came across this picture of Che the other day from some unknown website with a rather extensive amount of information on him. I didn't bookmark the site, however, I saved the picture because it was seemingly very unique. It is the first time I've ever seen it, and I have no idea of where or when it was taken. Me and some of the regulars here have come up with some theories but I'd like to see if anyone else has a direct answer before we start stating the theoretical.

Things to keep in mind... he has his star on his berret, thus it was more than likely later than the cuban revolution, it could have been during when he got the star from Fidel, however, he looks a fair bit older and far to thin for it to be the Cuban revolution. This puts us possibly in the Congo, however, it should be noted that in a lot of the pictures from the congo he is fairly well kempt, so it'd be a very rare picture if at all from this period of his life. Lastly this leads many to believe it's from Bolivia, but alas, very few photographs seem to exist from this revolution, and the few that do all feature him with shorter hair or still showing the signs of his desguise that let him in to Bolivia in the first place.

So let's have it, where could this picture possibly be taken? and when? Was Che part of some revolution we're not aware of? Is it even from the jungle? He looks dirty, his clothes are dirty, his hair is long and unkempt!!! We need an explaination.

My guess would be alongside yours....in that it was most likely taken in Bolivia. The reason being is because of the reduction in weight Che lost in Bolivia...the picture looks like Che lost alotta weight which he did.

There's just something about that pic that makes me believe it isn't him. The cheekbones,...the neck...it just doesn't look like Che even during his time in the Congo. I dunno, but it just doesn't look like Che Guevara.

Not to mention the two shades of black on his hat and hair.

I would account differences in color more towards possibly the age of the photo and the means of how it was made digital. Remember that black and white film is not the greatest to begin with, particularly then a lot of modern black and white development techniques hadn't even been created.

My only question to your statement is, who the hell else would it be?

I thought at first similarly to you, that maybe it's not Che, but then I looked at a lot of pictures of him. Granted most are when he had more meat on him, and the only major difference i saw was the cheeks. Which in every picture where he's a bit heavier they sort of overlap his mouth when he's smiling, but other pictures where he's thinner they don't overlap as much, and furthermore, are all taken from side angles which would exagerate the depth. Other than that there are obvious characteristic features, the downward turned eyes with rinkes at their extremes, the bags under the eyes, the broad chin, and as you can see in the picture I've attached with a similar smile he has that sort of double shading under his bottom lip.

Furthermore, since we're on the subject of Bolivia and how strange he looked during that time because of his thinness, I think it's key to remember that the corpse didn't really look like him either. In fact, I would say the original picture I posted here resembles him far more than the pictures of his supposed corpse ever did.

To be perfectly honest it looks like someone photoshopped George Clooney's face to look like che. Take this picture for example of the handsome man:

http://www.allposters.com/IMAGES/77/039_44787.jpg

Look at the chin how it goes up near the bottom lip, the lines around and under the eys, the large adams apple.

It's not a hidden guerilla expediation.

Fuck me with a spanner!

Look at the hat and the hair line and you can kinda tell it isnt him?

hahhaha, very good Hampton. We were wondering how long it would take. I'm surprised you actually found the exact picture I used, not that it's that difficult with google image search and all. So yes, you are perfectly correct, it is George Clooney.

Originally I started the GIMP'd version of that picture because I've long said that George Clooney bares a striking resemblence to Che. Lots of people argue it, and I just wanted to see how well I could pass it off.

Many members already knew about it, but I told them to keep quiet in order to see how long it would take here. But tell me, do you agree that he does look a lot like Che? I think it's obvious in other pictures aswell. I've always said Che looks very different depending on when you catch him, and I think some of the best representations of him from the acting world are Benicio, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Gael, two of these have been selected for playing him, and I think very rightfully so in terms of appearances. However, I still think if George put on a bit of weight and really grew out his hair he might have them all beat. He's got the eyes for it.

I look back now and think if I had taken just another ten minutes with it I could make it more convincing, but I was really trying not to actually modify his face too much in order to make my point. But thank you all for playing... if anyone else would like to try with other actors I think it'd be a rather fun thing to do.

Also check out: http://www.dotink.org/~gent/content/Filing.../clooneyche.pdf (http://www.dotink.org/~gent/content/FilingCabinet/clooneyche.pdf) -- which compares them both at a younger age with much similar style hair.

Fucking Goerge Clooney! I thought 'Che's face looked a bit fucked up. Not to mention the fact that his beard was unusually full.

the moustache is the most obvious thing it's poorly layered. Good pic though. Del Toro looks the most like him along with Johnny Knoxville.

The resemblance to Clooney was quite obvious (or maybe it's just me who watch too much tv? )

You're right. The moustache was a fucking give a way. I'm slow. But I had doubts about the beard at least. :P

Well the funny thing is that all the facial hair was taken from pictures of Che, so anything that's odd about it is probably due more to contrast/brightness settings I was messing with to try and even get the picture to look like one pictures. Between Clooney's Face, the Fatigues, the facial hair, and the background, they all came from different pictures with different lighting and levels. Lastly one thing that makes the hair look so solid is a blur and grain thing I did to make it look like an old photograph. But this is noticeable in a lot of old photographs, the only ones where you can really notice Che's beard as not being so "Full" are those with really well lighting or shot from a decent range (which this one would have been granted, however, nothing says much about the lighting other than he would have been outside).

Anyway, it was all in good fun. Furthermore, for a lot of you calling it out now, realize there was almost 30 views before almost any response, so it can't be TOO obvious.

Haahahhahahaha!!!!!!!! That is hilarious. I didn't get that it was George Clooney right away but I was going to say that it looked doctored. What a great photoshop.--I mean GIMPo

I haven't thought of George Clooney at first but I thought "This isn't Che". When I saw the picture of George Clooney's, I thought "Fuck it's him!". Great picture though but one can easily think it's not Che.

This deserves a resurrection. It's pretty funny. I still say Johnny Knoxville looks more like him as does Benicio Del Toro.
