PM and war-criminal Ariel Sharon fired the 4 ministers from the religious extreme-right party Shas, which holds 17 out of the 120 seats in the israeli parliament, the knesset.

the 17 knesset members from shas voted against the emergency budget devised by the prime minister and the minister of finances, despite the fact they are a part of the coalition. the PM fired the 4 ministers in rage and sent Shas to the opposition. sharon's coalition now consists of 60 members, who do not give him a majority in the knesset.

sharon's options are either to (1) invite Shinoi, the party commited to fighting religious coercion. this will give him 6 more knesset members, and a majority in the knesset. his other option is to (2) dissolve the knesset and go to fast elections in a month.

let us pray that the day when sharon will not be prime minister is soon to come.

I heard about this today. Sharon shows his fascist stripes at every turn. Let's hope this is the beginning of the end for him.

this was actually a good thing he did. as part of the government, Shas had to support the budget in the knesset. but because they have 17 seats, they think they can do whatever they want, regardless of the government's decisions. he had to fire them.
