Greetings comrades.

Just to introduce myself; I'm an 18 year old polytechnic student (studying IT) I'm also a part-time fast food worker (KFC) and am active in unionizing the store.

I grew up with a left-leaning family in a working class area but really became interested in communsim and anti-imperialism over the past year, mainly with the anti-war movement and my at-the-time-girlfriend (who was born in the USSR) getting me into reading Lenin (I later moved on to Marx and Mao).
Of course reaching my own political maturity was far more complicated and involved than just that, but this is a forum post not my auto-biography, so I'll keep it short.

When I reached voting age I wanted to be more than someone who went to the polls every 3 years and voted for the lesser of two evils, so I researched far left parties in my country and became a member of the Anti-Capitalist Alliance (http://www.anticapitalists.tk), since then I have been becoming more and more active in the party and hope to run for office one day.

I currently live in Christchurch New Zealand.

I look forward to some interesting discussions with all of you

:D

but at the moment i am living in northland so arent doing much on the political side beside reading.
i wont be making it down for the Workers Resistance.

i'm sure we'll meet up at some point.
PM me if u want my email.
could u tell me a bit about the ACA - I knew a guy on waiheke that was a member (swa bodey.. dunno how to spell it). I was wondering what ure guys stategy is and what u think of things like Hugo Chavez and Cuba. I don't agree with the socialist worker on all things but they're good ppl to me. i personally think it would be great if the left in NZ could start getting united to take on the racist and neoliberal bull shit coming out of the mainstream parties and parliament.

catch ya

Socailistfuture: Our stratagy is probably the same as most other socialist parties, organize and educate workers, run candidates for office, and campaign.
I don't know if theres any official ACA position on Chavez, but people in the party I've talked to all seem to support him. Cuba has never come up in conversations and I don't remember reading about it in our publications, so I"m not sure of everyones opinon on it.

I deffinatly agree with you about the left in this country needing to unite, and I'm sure it will happen once there is more that unites us than divides us (this may be true already)

Ian: Whos the ACA member you know? I've probably met him
