On Tuesday the sound company for which I work partime for recieved a job from a local New York band that needed a sound system for a show they would be putting on. This show happened to be for the Hispanic Alliance for Progress Institute and the key note speaker for this occasion was George Bush. Needless to say I profited by getting paid for my services on the job, but i'll get into the details some other time. I have to go read something at the present time.

Prior to the convention in Madison Square Garden, Republican Lobbyists were saying that there gathering was going to generate a lot of extra income for local business owners. They expected restaurants and other night life attractions to be full of life. It turns out that more money was lost, due to the mass amount of locals who chose to leave town during the event. Catered events caused restaurants to lose lot's of money.

It turned out that the job I was on was for a catered event. About 700 delegates and reporterswere invited to see former president Bush, a New Mexican congressman and his Bush's grandson speak on behalf of the Hispanic Alliance for Progress Institute. Their speeches didn't really say much, they mostly centered around how they had hispanics in their family or how they support up start hispanic organizations aimed and helping the hispanic community.

The one thing that surprised me the most was the security or lack there of. The fellow sound men and has twenty large roadcases filled with equiptment that was not searched, nor was it put through any scanning equiptment. we could have had bombs or guns in there and killed the former president, it wouldn't have been hard to dtonate a bomb in a microphone, that he was speaking from. It shocks me on how poorly the secret service did their job. Plus countless numbers of people neglected to wear their ID badges that show that they're supposed to be at the event, yet I didn't see any authorities question them.

Yeah, I made the same observation at the RNC, when 3 times!!! the Feminist organization Code Pink made it onto the convention floor and disrupted speeches and had to be bodily dragged out. Either security was lax or they must s some good d. :P
