What has happened to the Socialist Workers Party of America? i heard about them maybe once and then nothing. why the lack of media attention? have we become so scared as to remain silent about all issues? You don't see commies or socials at any of the protests for either the DNC or the RNC? why is this?

Hmm, well there are actually a lot of communist, socialist parties in the USA/UK. Unfortunately they are so poorly funded, maintained and promoted it can take a lot of effort just to find the existence of these supposed parties.
As for the RNC and the DNC, I do believe there were protesters, but not enough in quantity to get media attention. Small anarchist groups formed to abuse the odd person, nothing major like in past years.

I have notices that parties like the one you mentioned seem to vanish when school starts.

That's one of the most ignorant things I've heard since our debates yesterday.
Do you have any evidence whatsoever to back up that assertion?
Didn't think so.
You're a fucking joke, you disgusting, submissive capitalist conformist.

SWP is still around and they were here during the RNC selling their newspaper. One of them actually critisized me for not being a factory worker when he found out I was IWW. "The IWW used to be all factory workers." he said (which is bullshit, the IWW has always been a union for ALL workers). For some reason, like an image of the proletariat based on a characturature of what a worker is, you have to be a factory worker to be a member of the SWP (USA).

i just felt it odd we have lost all representation. I know many feel that the SWP doesn't rep for them, but if they dont, who will? many say "form your own party" but few would take the intiative to do so. i wonder if we have become so used to simply being voices on a message board, not political activists. what happenend to the fiery spirit the communist party was so famous for? the speakers who could sway the masses be they liberal or conservative? we need a leader who can voice our concerns and actaully be heard. im not saying we need a dictator, but we do need a leader to rally around. If i alone protest an issue, it becomes local controversy only, nothing more. if as a movemnet we protest injustice, we gain national attention because we create a national controversy. We need a party that can put forward a candidate, not publish a newsletter. Many say we dont need a "party", but any change short of a military revolution must take place either through the system or through non-violent demonstrations. when we become vilent we must be sure of sucess or we gain an image akin to that of anarchist "black blocs" who people fear as hooligans. Change by the proletariat needs an organised proletariat. if nothing else join a union, join the SWP. even if they seem lackadaisical now, they may realise that with our support they DO have a voice in the system.

Why are you so high on the SWP? There are a bunch of socialist parties of various stripes in the US. The SWP is a dinosaur and seem interested mostly in supporting Fidel Castro's Cuba and making their members get jobs in factories.

As far as I can see the american SWP has degenerated into being mostly about their bookshop/printing company Pathfinder press.
You hardly hear anything else about them. Their newspaper carries some good articles from time to time though.

Pretty much and they're probably the dearest publishers going aswell. They threatened to sue MIA over publishing Novack's stuff online.

They also threatned to sue them over putting Trotsky's works online. I think it was around 5-6 years ago or so. Back then they had the rights to Trotsky's works in the USA, luckily those rights are now in the hands of a real revolutionary organisation ;) (who are not going to sue any left group for putting them online or even printing them for that matter)
