Is anyone here familiar with him and his career, and writings?
If so what do you think? What do you like, dislike?
Do you feel is impact on U.S. economics was a benifit or a burden?

My impression is that he was a "New Deal" Democrat and a Keynesian reformist.
If so, his views are very unfashionable in modern ruling class circles now and his influence is negligible.
But I've never bothered to actually read him.

I feel sorry for him, he was one of the key heads under Kennedy, but after the assassination, he was never able to influence economic policies in Washington again. He's extremely anti-bush though, that's what I like about him.
John G: "The state of the economy in the last few years has been dismal... I never thought that I'd yearn for Ronald Reagan."

He was also in charge of the U.S. economy for most of WW2, as the Head of the Center for Price Control. His influence in the latter half of the century is harder to measure as an economics Prof. at Harvard. He was supposed to be writing a book with Clinton, but first Galbraith's health faltered and now Clinton is going under the knife.
