he is considered one of latins america's greatest socialist thinkers - sometimes called the 'latin american gramsci'
not many of his works have been translated into english. here

any one here heard of him before?
he was one of the main inspirations claimed by the Shining Path movement in Peru. abimael guzmen drew inspiration from mao zedong (mao tse tung) and jose carlos marteguis' theories.
he of course was never in the shinning path because he died long before it existed.

I read very few things by him. Some of them was ok as far as I remember.
And why do "dolphin talking" posadas need to be dragged into this?

So much of marxist "debate" is little more than a zero-sum game, eh?
We've never much gotten past primitive and narrow self-interest -- the whole point of class-consciousness.
I've read little of Mariategui's work. It doesn't help that he's little studied outside of South America.
And I propose that people discuss controversial individuals and organizations on both their good and bad points (debatable, of course, what goes in each category).
People can be appreciated for what good they've done, alongside the bad, you know. Criticism doesn't have to be "either/or", or "black & white". It can be shades of grey as well. And better for being that.
