I see that this board has a somewhat large number of Irish and Brits. I was just wondering if there are any CIRA sympathizers here, or any others that believe that force must be used in order for Ireland to become an independent state.

800 years of oppression is pretty easy to sympathize with.
When I was an angry teenager all I wanted to do was run off and join the I.R.A.
I'm a little older and a little less angry, but still follow what's going on back there. Always hoping that religion and race will one day not determine who rules and who is forced to bend knee there.

Well, I'm not saying supporting the united Ireland movement, but rather supporting the reunification by continued force.

What's the CIRA? Got any links to their info or writings?

I'm not sure what the C stands for but I assume he's reffering to the Irish Republican Army. The Militant organization dedicated to removing control of northern Ireland from The British gov't, and the political system that retains control of N.Ireland for the Protestant minority.
The last ten or fifteen years have seen less violence directed at Great Britain and more emphasis put on defending the poorer catholic communities from the militant protestant organizations.
Here is a page with a number of related links.

The "C" stands for Continuity. They're a republican paramilitary group that split off from the Provisional IRA in '86. They want Northern Ireland to join the Republic...an aim I fully support. Hell, the last surviving member of the Second Dáil recognises them as the true successors of Michael Collins.
I hope they finish the job Collins started.

The people of Nothern Ireland do not want to join the Republic and have clearly stated so in elections. The support of this reactionary, terrorist group, responsible for the murder of hundreds of innocents is abhorrent.

Was I really quite inactive for the past weeks that I didn't know Danton is still posting? Welcome back Danton, even if I am the last person to know you are back.

Um, Danton, a fair 40 odd per cent do want to join the Republic and it is growing to a point of being the majority. Give it time.
The Arcadian Dream, comments like that prove how much of a fucking idiot you are.
The CIRA are just another dirty scumbag bunch of drug-dealers who maybe let off a bomb if they can get enough money together to make one once every 2 years. No need to even think about them unless you are a Gardai or P.S.N.I. member.

You try telling that to the nutjobs who have bobby sands quotes in their sigs, and talk about crimes commited before the nation of britian was even formed, 800 years ago.
Might as well argue with a wall. They like all nationalists and fundermentalists should be stamped on, along with the Nazis, the new labour scum and the nat bols.

It was the King of England that invaded Ireland. Call the country whatever you want it won't change history.
It's pretty hard to tell your Gov't that you want to join the rest of the country when the Gov't is made up almost exclusively by the concentrated Protestant areas, rather than representing the Catholic majority.
Oliver Cromwell was a murdering Heretic, sack of shit. Who killed more Christians during his short reign than can be attributed to hundreds of years of the Inquisition.
The I.R.A. has killed far fewer civilians than the British.
Even if we exclude the Millions starved to death by the British Gov't in the 1800's.
