TWO MEN…
Salvador Allende Gossens Hugo Chávez Frías
ONE VISION!
We commemorate and pay homage to Salvador Allende. A CIA sponsored
coup d’etat violently overthrew the president of Chile, Salvador
Allende, on the 11th of September, 1973, imposing a 17 year reign of
fascist terror in Chile. Today’s Chile is nothing but a continuation
of Pinochet’s policies and his fascist constitution. The present
government has no political will to change the constitution, a major
hurdle in attaining true democratic changes in Chile.
We are also gathering to celebrate yet another victory by President
Hugo Chávez, in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. President
Chávez has won 9 consecutive referendums in a transparent electoral
process. In spite of US intervention and so-called opposition forces
actively working to overthrow him, the people of Venezuela voted in
support of President Chávez. The Bolivarian process led by President
Chávez has become a beacon of hope for Latin America and indeed a
lesson of true democracy for the rest of the world.
One died defending his principles… the other continues the fight!
But what do these two men have in common?
A shared common vision of a united Latin America. A vision of social
justice and equality for all working men and women. A united Latin
America to defeat the yoke of foreign capital and imperialism. A
vision of solidarity with all oppressed peoples of the world. A
vision of a Latin America where all share the wealth and resources.
A Latin America for Latin Americans!
