NATO - meeting..

As some of you might now there is a NATO meeting here in Iceland, and wow, it cost the state 3 million dollars U$
(300 million IC kr.), we in iceland have never had armed police or soldiers whatsoever, this is mad, I´ve been stopped by a armed police man on my way to school,
and he told me I could not walk the way I was going, because the meeting is held near my school (I am not like crying over that it is just that there is a NATO meeting held 50 meters from a kindergarden school and a school for 1st. to 7th grade.(and my school of course, wich is a "high school", i think ou call it) I heard on the news that some reporter was talking to a child and asked the kid what he would think would happen to him if he dropped his football outside the school yard, the kid answered if he would try to get it he would be shot!
is that the right..? taht is not the messages we should be sending the kids man! ´cause there are armed forces all over he place, I went to a protest today, we all waved a sniper who was on a hotel roof, this is sick man, now I understand how it is like in other countries,
and this NATO thing, I don´t know what is with that it is completly dominated by the U$, and our government bought 20 BMW for those misrable human beings such as Colin Powell!
my point is (sorry if this was boring to read :))
3 million dollars on a thing like this? and there are people starving in the world!

Don't be angry. It is just common situation, happens all over. They need to throw money , huge amount of money on stupid activities, at the time when they could improve the internal welfare of their country.
That is the meeting of the rich , which is made for the rich and will serve their interests.

Russia wouldn't be totally rightful member of the Alliance. But it would be able to observe the activity of NATO and to be informed of it's plans.
It is logical and rational enough. NATO was made as anti-soviet milittary organization. Since USSR doesn't exist NATO had to change it's goals. Northen Alliance prefer the politic of anti-terrorism now. But it is just politics, the true meaning of that politic is the spreading the influence of capitalistic countries.
And it doesn't even matter that NATO is based on democratical equality of it's members. US takes the leading position in the alliance. So, US government sets the goals. Russia will never join NATO as it doesn't go together with the interests of the Russian Federation.
Serve the interests of the USA? Hell, no!!!

Norhern Alliance? That's a group in Afghanistan. North Atlantic Treaty Organization--thats what you mean right?

NATO does shit now, their last legitimate operation was in Bosnia, now that's over and there is no purpose for NATO anymore. They should revise their mission statement and change their name to the International Anti-Terroism Coalition, or something like that.

Menshevik, changing the mission statement and the name of NATO will not change their true interests. NATO will still serve to the interests of capitalistic imperialism.

The armed guards are probably in place to protect from any sort of terrorist attack.

And NATO has an airbase refueling station on Iceland, at least one. Rekjeyavik, or somesuch spelling.

Meh. It is the way of nations to create alliances, from the Hapsburgs to NATO. It won't change. If nothing else, it gives secretaries and file clerks work to do.

yeh, but it isn't the same old NATO is what I'm trying to say. No more Soviet Union=no more iron curtain--which means no more east vs. west. In short NATO is a thing of the past, anti-terrorism is the way of the future. Catch my drift?
