Marc Bolan

I only know a little about him and am learning, could someone please fill me in if your a Bolan buff?

He used to play in the Mod band John's Children and his girlfriend wasn't a very good driver.

His name is Marc Bolan. That enough info on him?

I know he was originally in Neils Children, had a stint as a teen model, changed his name several times til it ended up as Bolan, died in a car crash 2 weeks before his 30th birthday, within hours somebody had broken into his house and stolen all the memorabilia, he started off as a Tolkien influenced/eastern music influenced hippy dippy type guy before he found his own voice and my favourite album from this time is My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair But Now They're Content To Wear The Stars On Their Brows, with the second being Beard Of Stars, I like this period best as it is reminiscent of artists like Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Solo era Syd Barrett, Mississippi John Hurt and most recently Devendra Bahart who incorporates all of them. That said however I still really like his electric material namely The Slider LP.

The band was called Johns Children, Neils Children are a completely different band.
Johns Children still play live from time to time.
