Just wondering how many of the members here regularly read a paper and which one(s)?
Personally i prefer the Guardian (which i believe once linked this site) and the Torygraph (some good articles in there if you dont mind the right wing bias) Other than that there is the independant and i have to admit i once read the Sun.
So what else do you read? If you are from a region other than Britain i would be delighted if you could post a short summary of the style of paper ie broadsheet/tabloid etc.

I read the Guardian and sometimes catch the FT Magazine.
Private Eye isn't really a newspaper, but it is a good read.

I read The Independant which is actually fairly right in my opinion. However it is good for the simple whats going on purpose! It has an extreme bias against Sinn Fein.
The Times I also read which is a little highbrow I guess and more focused on culture which I am interested in.
I read the Evening Herald which is a cross between a tabloid and broadsheet, it's not very political.
The lack of left leaning papers in Ireland dosent give much choice.

I read different shitty danish papers. All of them rightwing in one way or another. Normally I get my news from the net, I finally got the code to the economist website so that's a big plus.

The Economist (http://www.economist.com) is pretty unbiased for capitalist media

Various; I don't buy papers, but my work lay on quite a few - not to mention the scores that are left in the staff room by other workers. The ones I tend to make a beeline for are The Financial Times and The Scientist - both heavily biased of course ;)
i have to admit i once read the Sun
To this day, I cannot understand how that paper manages to stay afloat: You need either the tolerance of cockroach to abide it or the intelligence of the same to enjoy it.
I generally take great pleasure in defacing it.

:o
Are you out of your fukking mind?
What appears as objectivity in the form of criticizing American imperialist policies is actually just Elitist British penis envy of the American empire. The Economist hates all things left of center.

I have found that The Age (http://www.theage.com.au) is a decent local corporate source. It runs in direct competition with a terrible Murdoch paper, plus it appeals more to the student/academic type, quite contradictory to the Murdoch sensationalism.
I also read the Anarchist Age (http://www.anarchistmedia.org/weekly.html), also produced locally, which is a small weekly paper that mostly features commentary.

Most of my local printed papers are garbage, so I go for the online media, myself.
Granma International (http://www.granma.cu/ingles/index.html) - All the news on Cuba, the Miami Five and Latin America.
Indymedia (http://www.indymedia.org/en/index.shtml) - Well, duh.
BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/default.stm) - Capitalist media, but detailed as hell and pretty unbiased. It's the only media I've seen to mention the Maoist rebels in Nepal in any great detail.
Guardian Unlimited (http://www.guardian.co.uk/) - A good paper with a left-wing spin.

online it has to be the guardian - this is the paper i go to when i want to actually read the news.
In real life though, i occasionally buy the times or independent (compact version).
Sadly, my house gets the mail, although recently we havn't been getting it that much. It goes without saying that this paper is toilet paper quality. Its one of those papers which you go through in 1 minute, to discover one or two slightly amusing/interesting articles.

I dont read papers that often.
The Sun actually has an average reading age of 9.5 years, which means that i would have been able to understand it when i was 6!

I occasionally read the newspaper put out by Socialist Action (http://www.socialistaction.org/news/). They have a really cool bookstore in San Francisco on Valencia street.
One mainstream newspaper I sometimes read is the
San Jose Mercury News (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/).

I read the Times, it has a great culture section and good Sports which is fun, for actual news though i'll read whatever I can find on the train, which is usually the sun, metro or Independant.
If I ever buy the paper it's the Independant.

We got a free newspaper here. The Metro http://www.metro.lu/, it's a quick read and tells the most important things of that day. It's very convenient for my 10 minutes train ride that I have to take daily. Unsensationalist. But I check the guardian, indymedia sometimes even BBC or CNN.

I read the local paper, and I often have CBC Newsworld playing in the background while I'm on the computer (my computer and TV are in the same room).

The Irish News and The Guardian.

I read the Express or the Mail since I don't want to read an essay about every piece of news (Guardian, Independent, Telegraph). Of the tabloids, the Mail and Express have less celebrity 'news' which is also good. Although, the Express and Mail are right-wing but all the papers are written from a bourgeois perspective.

i read the Mirror. good sports section and also covers world news well (or as well as any paper does). it doesnt really make a lot of difference unless you read something truly shite like the Star or Sport, or something completely ultra-conservative and sensationalist like the Mail or Telegraph.
i also watch the news on TV quite a lot, either Channel4's Evening News or the evening news on BBC.

My city's paper is an utter rag. It's called the "Spectator," but I refer to it as the Speculator, as it doesn't do any news reporting, just speculation.
Whenever I can get my hands on it, I like the Globe and Mail. I find it's less biased than the other big papers, especially the National Post, a humongous Right wing Rag.

I read very few papers. Mostly "Libération" a French left-wing papers, and my local paper, the "Schaffhauser Nachrichten", for knowing what's going on in the region.

Well it exists in most of the world, also here in Denmark. I read it too when I drive the bus or train. But you should try to look at what angle they take towards demonstrations and strikes, then you find out it's not as unbiased as it claims :D

I too read The Economist, but merely for the informational elements, I tend to dismiss the opinions which are indeed right winged crap.
Put your mind to the magazine with keeping a hardened left view without being influenced by the neo-liberal filth and this is quite an interesting read.
We also have a weekly published newspaper here called Voir. They are mostly leftists, but do critise the left in order to dismiss the naiveness and expose the errors that kept this ideology from prevailing... They are quite hard on the right, which is music to my ears, or rather gold to my precious eyes.
I read this VERY often.... Readers are able to give their comments on every text written on their website...
It's also a non-profit publication, which is also a major major plus !
(However, it's only in french... Only down side for anyone who don't speak this language.)
www.voir.ca
www.hour.ca
It has a an english equivalent here as well called Hour.
BBC online has some good stuff sometimes too, but I tend to dismiss most information it comments as much as CNN online....
Without sounding corny, I feel that since I've found this place, I really need less to find great perspectives on world events, because all of us write our own views on these events and keep it pure of anything crappy and cappie....
People like us all make the news, therefore we should be the ones reporting it, commenting it, keeping it authentic.
