OK, firstly I'm a big Night fan so I was expecting a lot from this film and it just about delivered. His trademark shocks and twists were there but he really created a great sense of "place" with the village and crafted intereseting characters. The performances from William Hurt and Bryce Dallas Howard were particuarly excellent.
Also, interesting political undertones.
Anyone esle seen it?

This film made my top ten list of the worst fims ever made. Plan Nine From Outer Space was more entertaining.
(Unbreakable is on that list as well.)
He really needs to stop writing and stick to directing.

It was okay.
Right in the middle, or earlier, eh, I figured out what was gonna happen.
It was okay.

I didn't see it but my friend told me that as what everyon expected to be a horror or suspense story, it turned out to be a love story. I don't really know.

Ed Wood was a genius and you know it, Z-grade genius. Are we talking about M. Night Shyamalan or something?

Can't say I've seen that. I know lots of people didn't like the Village but it held my attention and interest pretty much the whole way through even though I got both twists very early on.

I wouldn't call it a love story, certainly there were relationships that were central to the premise but it was more about the effects of grief and the consequences of isolation.

the problem with all of m night's movies is that ever since the 6th sense, people dont go to see his movies to just sit down and enjoy the movie, they go to see if they can figure out the twist before it's revealed to them.
i thought the movie was ok, not great, but not a steaming pile of crap either.

, they go to see if they can figure out the twist before it's revealed to them.
Absolutely correct.
The ironic thing is that the first film of his that doesn't have a twist will be the most suprising one so far.

Although I really liked 6th sense, I think you can categorize M. Night's film like this:
6th Sense - "I see dead people"
Unbreakable " I see bad people"
Signs - " I see alien people"
Village - " I see wierd people" ( Although I haven't seen it, I think after reading reviews, I'll give it amiss.)

Slightly unfair if you ask me.
He has become a "genre" director but he always a fresh eye to any genre he attacks.

Worst film I've ever seen. What a waste of money.
And the twist......worst than 'Oh It's all a dream!' ending. <_<
