It's freaking awesome. I haven't cried over a movie since I was like six years old. This was really emotional. One of the greatest movies ever.

I saw it last Tuesday and I really enjoyed it. Bernal really got the balance between Che the "myth" and Ernesto "the man" perfectly and it had some genuinely touching moments.

I wrote a review on it as an assignment for my screenplay writting class.

here it is

The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)(Argentina)
Directed by Walter Salles

Motorcycle Diaries follows the adventures of future leader of the Cuban revolution, Ernesto “Che” Guevara (Bernal) and Alberto Granado (De la Serna) as told in "The Motorcycle Diaries" by Ernesto Che Guevera and "With Che Through Latin America" by Alberto Granado. The story takes place as they explore the underdeveloped rural areas of Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Peru where the two radically different youths discover their calling.
As middle class Argentineans, Che and Alberto set off in 1952 riding an old, unreliable motorcycle ironically nick-named “La Poderosa” (the powerful one) in search of some fun, some girls, and an escape from college life before they must become professionals. The two cousins begin the journey as absolute opposites. Che is slightly up-tight, immature, and naïve. Alberto, on the other hand, is a life-loving and mature fellow more set in his ways, but who will still undergo a dramatic change of destiny. The beginning of the trip is marked by humorously humiliating instances between the two future heroic icons as they seek shelter and food when their motorcycle breaks down and they run out of money. As they leave Argentina into Chile and so forth, the adventure becomes more dramatic as intense internal ideological conflicts are revealed when they encounter the weary, beaten-down, and oppressed workers set in contrast to the beautifully filmed South American landscape. Ernesto and Alberto, as medical students, eventually proceed to volunteer at a leper colony in the Peruvian Amazon. One of the most climactic moments in the film occurs when Che celebrates his birthday at the leper colony and insists upon breaking the rigid segregation between lepers and doctors when he swims across the river that separate the two.
Without pretentiously portraying Ernesto as an artificial hero, Gael Garcia Bernal delivers a magnificent performance in this profound and meaningful examination of the social and political conditions that yielded the great revolutionary. Bernal completely retains the sincerity of the familiar experience of discovering one’s soul.
Rodrigo De la Serna also does an excellent performance as Che’s companion without simply being reduced to a foil character, overshadowed by Guevara. The journey through his touching experience ends with one of the most moving moments in film for me, when the actual Alberto Granado appears in his humble home in Cuba as an 80-year old veteran of the famous communist rebellion.
Cinematographer Eric Gautier truthfully portrays the harsh realities that shape Ernesto’s and Alberto’s outcome and their emotionally charged coming-of age journey while simultaneously flaunting the beautiful backdrop of the South American countryside and wilderness which has a constant presence in this movie. The music of composer Gustavo Santaolalla compliments the down-to-earth journey of the two future heroic icons.
This movie is a humanizing and moving epic that everyone will enjoy. Not at all monotonous or tedious, this historical document is truly revealing and entertaining.

I got a 100 on it.

I was on the official website, and it didn't give any specifics, but on another site, it said release date was today the 24th. It only listed it showing in one theatre in Los Angeles, and two in New York. That's it. Three cinemas. I imagine there has to be another release date coming soon.

I also read it is supposed to open in the UK on the 27th.
