Coincidence, most likely.
In a complex world, it would be most unusual if coincidences never happened.
What would actually merit investigation is if it could be shown that individuals who believe in "Hell" were wealthier than individuals who don't.
The problem with such an investigation is common to all research based on solicited individual opinion -- people lie!
They lie about their political views; they lie about their sex-lives; and, yes, they lie about their religious beliefs and practices.
A comparison between the number of Americans who told pollsters that they attend religious services on a weekly basis and the attendance actually reported by churches revealed that at least half of those who claimed they were going to church every week were lying.
Perhaps lying to public opinion researchers is not a "sin" and you won't have to go to "Hell".
