Newspaper article

Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Arun Gandhi is to kick off an unarmed palestinian movement against israeli occupation which is to be launched by a group of social
and political activists in ramallah

Finally someone's trying to achieve palestine independence through the
right means
I feel that path of non-violence should be first tried and only when it fails should we
resort to violence
But then the need for violence will never rise because non-violence will never fail. :)

Now where has all these years of bloody violence really left us ?
Nowhere

Had che and other revolutionaries followed the path of non-violence today we would be living in a different world
What do you all think of this?

Considering the track record of non violent protest, (especially in Gandhi's case) it is safe to say that we would be living in a world that had never even attempted socialism.

No thanks buddy.

A good point indeed. While most of us know about the brutal retaliation for terrorist attacks undertaken by the Israeli military against the Palestinian people, few of us are aware of the more commonplace destruction of any semblance of Palestinian civil society...much less "nonviolent resistance". Noam Chomsky's essays on his visits to the occupied territories spell out first hand accounts of the way nonviolence is dealt with by the occupation.

People certainly don't run around blowing themselves up when they think there may be a remotely effective alternative.
