In recently got a job at the United States Post Office. Management allows us workers to listen to books on tape and music during work hours. I was wondering if you knew of any good left wing/labor songs to make a compilation. Please no Rage

i.e. the internatonale
Working class hero - John Lennon
Roll on - The Living End

Any bob dylan basically.

If you're into punk (which dropkick murphys are, though the songs I listed are more irish folk than punk), then:

the decline - NOFX
fuck authority - pennywise
society - pennywise

Are there styles of music that you don't want? Styles that you do want? You also need to consider your environment. I know the post office where I am is mostly white, mostly male mostly over 40. What I'm getting at is if you want to get along with your co-workers and attempt to turn them on to some good music with a good message then you shouldn't play music that is going to put them off right away.

It sounds to me that you are looking for folk music but maybe I'm wrong. Here's my suggestions that are mostly folky but also some stuff that swings a bit too.
Someone mentioned Billy Bragg already but he's so good I'll mention him again.
Dick Gaughan
Christy Moore
Leon Rosselson
Eric Bogle
Phil Ochs
Casey Neill
Attila the Stockbroker
Andy Irvine
Redskins
Adjusters

If you need any help finding any of these artists, let me know.

Also check out -
The Strike - "Shots Heard 'Round The World"

Seems that there's a few people on here who work for the post office. I work for the Royal Mail in England.

The album I like to listen to the most while working is (ironically, and yet not so) Workingman's Dead by none other than the Grateful Dead. Especially Uncle John's Band, New speedway Boogie, and Cumberland Blues.

That reminds me of the album "Don't Mourn Organize" Songs of Labor, Songs of Joe Hill. It is a great album with different artists. One track is Pete Seeger doing "Casey Jones the Union Scab", great song, great album!

I'm pretty sure Red2K4 meant with headphones so it won't matter what the other workers are listening to.

Johnny Cash- Man in Black
The Ballad of Ira Hayes

Jerry Garcia was missing most of his middle finger(the top 2 joints) on his right hand. It happened when he was a kid, chopping wood with his brother. Sorry, I can't help it, I'm a Deadhead.

Actually Iommi is left handed and the damage was done to his right hand.

And someone said Red2k would listen over headphones and you are probably right but he/she hasn't reposted in this thread to say if all of these great suggestions have been helpful or not.
