We're in a time of crisis, it's pretty clear that the labor movement all over the world is losing the footing that it has fought for years to gain. Right now, in America, only about 11% of our private sector workers are unionized and that number continues to dwindle.

Now, I'm beginning to think that it might be a good time to begin to organize somewhat of a grassroots propaganda campaign to organize fellow workers. What I have in mind are things like regularly posting fliers around businesses and colleges locally, passing out buttons/information to people in areas regularly crowded like metro stations. Basically I would like to start an organization that tries to get working people to become aware of the need to organize and that THEY are the working, and therefore revolutionary(be careful with this word though, honestly it's not attractive to the average Joe), class. Hell, if resources allow, a freeway billboard on a busy stretch of road wouldn't be a bad thought.

Is anybody else interested in taking on such a task? I'm thinking of investing in some webspace to start up a site of sorts as a go-to place for information/flyers and collaboration with local comrades, etc...

Any thoughts? Is there already a large group like this? Anybody interested?

It should also be noted that the union that will be advocated is the IWW.

Well, aren't we an active bunch...

I expected at least some criticism for such lofty goals. This doesn't seem like an attractive endeavor to anyone here? :(
Rather disheartening, to say the least, that I can't even catch the interest of a forum full of revolutionary communists with this idea.

However I did get a PM from CompaneroDeLibertad. Gracias comrade!

Whats the IWW?

Over here (in New Zealand) there is a unionizing drive called UNITE, they are unionizing fast food places and the cinemas. So far they have done the cinemas and burger king, they will go through over ones ending with the big evil (mc donalds).

Do u live in the states? Good luck with ure plan.

The IWW is a historically popular labor union. They support a lot of direct action politics and abolishing the wage system.
