Ok, so we all know that Woody Allen is the greatest director/writer/actor in the history of the world, so...

What do you think his best films were in directing, writing and, acting?
What is your favorit Woddy Allen film?

I think that "Crimes and Misdemeanors" was his best from a filmmaking standpoint. It's certainly the most effective at character development and I think the moral interplay of the stories is something we won't see from him again.

That said, I think that, currently, my favorite is "Hannah and Her Sisters."

Mahattan Murder Mystery; homage to Hitchcock. Sleeper, and Play it Again, Sam.

I have a problem with "Bannanas", though, seems too much an insulting parody on the Cuban Revolution.

My favorite film of his is probably Bananas , or maybe Sleeper

I think his best directing was in Annie Hall
His best writing was in Everything you ever wanted to know about sex and where afraid to ask
And best acting in Bananas

Just because it is a parody doesent make it insulting. And I don't think it was a dirict parody to the Cuban revolution but just South American revolutions in general, and I don't thinkl he was tring to be insulting, well I hope not

He's dressed as a banana and he's running around the jungle with a guy that has a beard dressed in a green cap and uniform who looks just like Fidel?!!!!

It reminds me of a very rare Twilight Zone episode I saw with the paranoid dictator who looks just like Fidel, who murders all his comrades, (and one who looked just like Che) because he can't trust them, for every time he looked in the mirror while standing next to one of them, it reflected back an image of them trying to kill him.

Anyway, aren't parodies meant to be insulting - to mock by humor?

Woody Allen is truly a genius...a brilliant director often overlooked at. Move over Spielberg.

Annie Hall is definetely considered his best work. It one best picture in the American Academy Awards of 1977. Manhattan is also another of his works that is talked about a lot.
